
Scientific work at the department is an integral part of the activities of scientific and pedagogical staff, the main means of achieving the required level of quality of training of military specialists with higher education. The main directions of scientific research at the department are: research of the problems of the type of vehicle, cross-country ability, smoothness, other operational properties of military vehicles, increasing their security (head: Head of the department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Colonel Grubel M.G.); research of the organization and implementation of automotive support of units (subdivisions) in modern conditions (head: Professor of the department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Ph, Colonel Andrienko A.M.); research of problems of organization of operation and repair of long-life general military vehicles (supervisor: Senior Lecturer of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Lieutenant Colonel Parashchuk D.L.). research of modern problems and newest ways of wheeled vehicles controllability and operational properties of ground robotic complexes (supervisor: Lecturer of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Lieutenant Colonel Zalipka V.D.);

Based on the results of scientific research, the department conducts scientific and practical seminars, among which are: “Automotive support: current state and prospects of development”, during which, based on the analysis of the use of units (subdivisions) of the Land Forces during the Anti-Terrorist Operation, the degree of compliance of the automotive support system with the current conditions of use of units (subdivisions) was analyzed, and ways of its further development were determined; ‘Military automotive equipment of the Special Operations Forces: current state and ways of development’, during which the current state of military automotive equipment of the Special Operations Forces was analyzed. Based on the areas of scientific research of the department, the topics are developed and the work of the cadets' military scientific society is carried out. At the same time, the goal is to gradually improve the level of methodological training, harmonious development of scientific thinking, acquisition of practical research skills, creative approach to solving problems of operation and repair of military vehicles, studying the basics of organizing and conducting scientific and theoretical research. Based on the results of the development of scientific papers, cadets actively participate in all-Ukrainian competitions and scientific events; improve the quality of research papers (abstracts), scientific articles, etc.; and introduce their achievements into the educational process of the department. An equally important area of scientific activity is the organization of patent and license, inventive and rationalization work at the department. Thus, over the past 5 years, the department's academic staff has developed 11 patents of Ukraine for utility models and 21 rationalization proposals. As the winners of the All-Army competition “Best Invention of the Year”, the scientific and pedagogical staff of the department (the head of the author's team is Professor of the Department, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Colonel Andrienko A.M.) were awarded the first degree Diploma in the nominations “Automotive Engineering” (2020) and “Armored Vehicles and Armaments” (2021, 2022).
