The educational work is the basis of the department's activities and is aimed at training highly qualified officers for units of the branches and services of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other types of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military formations, as well as providing basic higher education to military personnel in contract service in the specialty 274 “Motor Transport”.

Military-technical disciplines are taught by experienced academic staff, including 1 Doctor of Technical Sciences, 3 Candidates of Technical Sciences, 2 Associate Professors, and 1 Senior Researcher. In the course of classes, teachers use cutaway parts, components and assemblies of automotive equipment samples, working models, models and diagrams. The professional training of the department's staff fully ensures the formation of the necessary competencies of future officers who will use basic automotive vehicles for their intended purpose in their official activities.
The department is constantly working on the introduction of innovative teaching technologies: the capabilities of computer systems, training and testing programs, electronic textbooks (manuals), the Academy's local network, the Internet, etc. are widely used. In 2019, a pilot project was launched to transfer certain groups of part-time cadets to the blended learning program.
In order to improve the level of learning by cadets (students), the department's teachers hold daily group and individual consultations. This allows the students to receive timely qualified answers to specific questions or explanations of certain theoretical provisions or aspects of their practical application from the teacher.

For classes and self-study, the available teaching and material base of the department is widely used, the main elements of which are about 30 samples of automotive equipment for various purposes, teaching and laboratory facilities (laboratory equipment, measuring and computer equipment, technical means of training and control, visual aids), specialized classes and other teaching and auxiliary facilities, field training facilities of the training center, textbooks and teaching aids, educational films, scientific and reference literature, etc.
