The department was formed in 1993. Over the years, the department has trained about 400 specialists, 15 of whom graduated with a gold medal and 84 with honors.
A significant number of graduates have received state awards. Among them is the Hero of Ukraine, Senior Lieutenant Yevhen Zelenskyi (awarded posthumously).
In different years, the heads of the department were Colonels V.M. Vasko, O.V. Fedenko, V.V. Panasiuk, V.V. Ozharevskyi.
January 2019, the department is headed by Colonel I.V. Poltsev.
The department consists of military personnel and employees who at different times served in different combat zones, the area of the Joint Forces Operation (ATO), were involved in combat missions to repel the large-scale aggression of the Russian Federation, have sufficient life and pedagogical experience.
