The educational work at the department is organized and carried out in accordance with orders, instructions and other regulatory acts of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Education and Science. The main focus of the educational work is to instill in-depth knowledge and practical skills in making managerial decisions and actions in the course of performing various combat missions. Academic disciplines taught by experienced teachers of the department fully ensure the training of future specialists.

Teachers of the department apply an individual approach to the training of cadets, carefully study the level of their basic training in secondary school, personal abilities and aptitudes for mastering a particular subject, determine appropriate individual tasks for seminars and group classes, preparation of scientific papers (abstracts), etc. In the educational process, all teachers use modern computer equipment, the Internet, a system of interactive and distance learning tools and automated knowledge control and assessment of cadets' learning achievements in the e-learning system (MOODLE) in the local network of the NAFE and software products that provide an almost complete information base of disciplines and the possibility of test control of knowledge in the disciplines taught.

In the course of group and practical exercises, the department's teachers present educational material, accompanying it with demonstrations of tactical and practical actions, actively using technical means of training. During group exercises, the main focus is on practicing the forms and methods of using the unit, as well as gaining practical skills of the commander in managing the unit.
