The Department of Driving Combat Vehicles and Automobiles was established on June 27, 2007 on the basis of the Departments of Operation and Repair of Automotive and Special Vehicles and Structure and Operation of Basic Vehicles. The organizational core of the department at the time of its establishment was: Candidate of Technical Sciences Lieutenant Colonel Chornyi M.V. (Head of the Department), Lieutenant Colonel Dolhov R.V. (Senior Lecturer), Major Kolesnyk V.O, Major Dyug R.V. (lecturers), Captain Stepanov S.S. (Head of STC), Captain Zeleniukh O.M. (Head of NL), employees of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Kramarchuk V.D., Klymchuk V.T. (lecturers of the department), Bavoliak V.P., Sotnikov I.I., Pavlov V.G., Sharkov D.Y., Warrant Officer Pukii M.V. (technicians of STC). In July 2009, the training complex, which was equipped with outdated training equipment such as TTV (movie simulators) and TR (mechanical simulators), was withdrawn from the department, and the department mastered and began to conduct classes using modern computer-based training equipment: complex dynamic crew simulators T-64 and BMP-2, automobile training complex ATK 3UE. Since September 2010, practical classes on driving combat vehicles, which until then were held at the tank range of the 32nd Combined Arms Training Area, have been held at the tank range of the National Army Academy, which has been restored and reconstructed to meet modern requirements. In May 2011, the department received a modern training complex, which was built in accordance with modern requirements for the organization of methodological, didactic and logistical support for conducting classes on teaching driving armored and automotive vehicles. In July 2015, due to an increase in the number of cadets, it became necessary to increase the training and classroom facilities. A class for studying traffic rules and the basics of safe driving and a class for testing traffic rules with modern software were added to the educational process. During the period of its existence, the Department has been involved in providing visits of the leadership of the state, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, foreign countries and their armed forces. During its existence, the department was headed by: - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Lieutenant Colonel Mykola Chornyi 06.2007 - 09.2008; - Colonel Ihor Antonyk 09.2008 - 12.2010; - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer Colonel Mykola Chornyi from 12.2010 to 03.2019.
