The scientific work concerns the following areas of research:
- calculation of large-sized equipment;
- development of asymptotic methods of nonlinear mechanics based on periodic Ateb functions, their application in the study of vibrations of highly nonlinear systems with concentrated masses and distributed parameters;
- dynamics of flexible elements of drive and transportation systems;
- strength and fracture of materials under the influence of working environments, etc.
Since its establishment, the department's faculty has published more than 250 scientific papers, made more than 50 presentations at international conferences, and received more than 20 copyright certificates and patents for inventions.
The department has a scientific seminar, where six PhD theses were presented. The Department's lecturers have defended 5 PhD theses:
1. Khytriak O.I. Analytical methods for studying the dynamics of two-dimensional models of flexible elements of drive systems (05.02.09 - dynamics and strength of machines, 2012).
2. Chahan Y.A. Increasing the smoothness of military tracked vehicles by selecting rational suspension parameters (20.02.14 - weapons and military equipment, 2013).

The Department's faculty members pass on their extensive research experience to the cadets of the Army Academy by engaging them in scientific, inventive and innovative work: the Department has a Scientific and Technological Committee, whose best works have been published and participated in the All-Ukrainian competitions of scientific works of cadets and students, where they were awarded prizes. The department also has a group for in-depth study of the subject “Higher Mathematics”.

The department conducts significant inventive work in the field of missiles and artillery systems. Since 2009, the inventions have been presented annually at the all-army competition “Best Invention of the Year” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and, as a rule, they have won high places. Prizes were won in the nominations “Transport and Communication”, ‘Construction’, “Automotive Engineering”, “Armored Vehicles and Armaments”, and “Logistics”. In 2013, the inventions of the department's employees were awarded third place in the Missiles and Artillery Systems nomination. The authors of the four patents that participated in the competition are the employees of the department Sokil B.I., Velychko L.D. |
