Established in 2009, the Department of Engineering Mechanics (since 2013, the Department of Engineering Mechanics (Armament and Engineering of the Engineer Troops) has 28 academic staff members. Among them are 9 professors, 12 associate professors, 6 senior lecturers and 1 lecturer. The Head of the Department is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor B. I. Sokil. The Department is part of the Faculty of Training of Combat (Operational) Support Specialists.

Since the department was established, its faculty have published more than 200 scientific papers, made more than 50 presentations at international conferences, and received more than 20 copyright certificates and patents for inventions.
During the existence of the department, 5 PhD theses were defended by the department's faculty.
