The Department of Engineering Mechanics (Weapons and Equipment of Engineer Troops) of the Faculty of Support Forces trains cadets in the disciplines of the cycle of natural science and military professional orientation.

The department is tasked with instilling in cadets a basis of knowledge in basic disciplines that play an important role in the formation of military specialists, it should prepare cadets to perceive the laws of development of modern military equipment and provide a solid foundation for independent improvement.

The department's work is aimed at developing and implementing a system of multi-level training and knowledge control for cadets with different levels of basic knowledge. It encourages cadets to work actively during practical classes and self-study, and allows them to systematically check the level of mastery of lecture and practical material.

Teaching at the department is designed to prepare cadets to understand the patterns of development of modern military equipment and provide a solid foundation for independent engineering creativity. To this end, the department has attracted highly qualified specialists in the relevant fields, most of whom have considerable experience in teaching and research. Most teachers have experience working with cadets. The latter is an important factor, because the training of military specialists has its own peculiarities, its own specifics of work, and differs significantly from the training of specialists in technical universities.
