Main tasks of the Department of Military History:
- Participation in the training of military specialists of tactical levels of training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Bachelor's degree, fields of knowledge:
25 Military sciences, national security, state border security,
14 Electrical engineering,
03 Humanities, in all specialties and specializations);
- participation in the training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of higher qualification - candidates (doctors of philosophy) and doctors of sciences for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations;
- participation in the training of military specialists by conducting classes within the framework of the project for the training of Ukrainian citizens at advanced training courses.

- History of Wars and Military Art:
Section 1. The development of military art from Antiquity to World War II inclusive;
Section 2: Military art based on the experience of local wars and armed conflicts after World War II and up to the present.
- History of weapons and military equipment:
Section 1. The history of the development of weapons and military equipment (from ancient times to the end of the nineteenth century);
Section 2. The history of the development of weapons and military equipment (from the twentieth century to the present).
