The main content of the department's activities is to promote the development of leadership and management competencies in cadets (adjuncts, students), in particular understanding of the essence of the evolution of war, military theory, military art as a component of military science, forms and methods of using ground forces, guerrilla, insurgent and other irregular formations, their role, tasks in armed struggle; understanding of the military history of Ukraine, its place and importance in the development of world history, as well as Ukrainian identity; systemic thinking (ability to think) and decision-making; the ability to creatively use the combat experience of local wars and armed conflicts, to be guided in the development of forms and methods of armed struggle of the leading countries of the world, to acquire command skills, ingenuity and reasonable initiative; the ability to assess the enemy and predict the most likely options for his actions in solving combat tasks in various types of combat; mastering the methodology of conducting scientific research, including military-historical research) to solve important problematic issues of an applied nature, etc.
