The Department of Missile and Artillery Arms was established on the basis of the Faculty of Training Specialists in (Use of Automotive Units and Automotive Support) in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of May 26, 2005, No. 381 “On Measures to Optimize the Network of Higher Military Educational Institutions” and Order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine of June 16, 2005, No. 339. Colonel Valerii Kozlov was appointed the first Head of the Department. In accordance with the Order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine dated 21.04.2005 No. 233 “On the implementation of the decisions of the Board of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine”, the Order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated 21.06.2005 No. 180, the work on the establishment of the Faculty of Missile Forces and Artillery was launched at the Lviv Military Institute. Since January 2006, the department has been headed by the Candidate of Military Sciences, Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Droban.In a short period of time, the department received 23 units of rocket and artillery weapons, created classrooms, deployed training laboratories in the main areas of rocket and artillery weapons, developed didactic support for the educational process, which allows for high-level training of specialists in rocket and artillery support. Active participation in the development of the Department was taken by: Lieutenant Colonel Svidunovych O.E., Lieutenant Colonel Tyshchenko O.V., Lieutenant Colonel Fedor B.S., Lieutenant Colonel Zvonko A.A., Captain Nikitiuk S.V., Reserve Colonel Nikolaiev A.I, Reserve Colonel Kekis M.K., Lieutenant Colonel Yakubovsky O.G. Since 2006, the Department of Missile and Artillery Arms has been an organizational part of the Faculty of Missile Forces and Artillery. Since 2007, the Department of Missile and Artillery Arms has been a structural unit of the Faculty of Training of Specialists in Troop Support. Since 2008, the Department of Missile and Artillery Arms has been a structural unit of the Faculty of Missile Forces and Artillery. The task of the department at the present stage is to train a qualified, proactive, comprehensively developed officer, a specialist in the operation of rocket and artillery weapons.
