In September 2005, the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi Lviv Military Institute of Lviv Polytechnic National University began preparatory work for teaching disciplines in the field of artillery officer training in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 381 of 26.05.2005 “On Measures to Optimize the Network of Higher Military Educational Institutions”. Therefore, in November 2005, the Department of Missile Forces and Artillery was formed at the Institute, which in a short time ensured the creation of the educational and material base of the future faculty. On April 25, 2006, the Faculty of Missile Forces and Artillery began to develop on the basis of the Department, which included - Department of Combat Use and Management of Ground Artillery Units; - Department of Missile Forces; - Department of Artillery Intelligence. The heads of the Department of Missile Forces were: - Lieutenant Colonel Martynenko S.A. - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Colonel Popovych T.D. - Colonel Bondar R.V. - Doctor of Military Sciences, Colonel Maistrenko O.V.
