The main task of the Support Forces Tactics Department is to train tactical officers in engineering support of the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine. In the process of training, cadets acquire knowledge and practical skills in engineering support of the mobility of their troops, engineering measures to limit the mobility of enemy forces and means and increase the survivability and safety of the use of combined arms units and subunits, as well as the organization of engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, their combat use, weapons and capabilities.
The scientific and methodological basis of the department's staff is a set of measures on tactics and operational art, the latest achievements in military science, the use of experience gained in the performance of engineering support tasks during the Joint Forces Operation (JFO), in international peace and security operations, the principles of combat use of engineering troops and achieving the basics of compatibility with NATO units.
Disciplines studied at the department:
- combat engineering support;
- combat engineering support according to NATO standards;
- tactics of engineering troops;
- explosives;
- engineering barriers;
- barrier construction and counter-mining;
- engineering training;
- radiation, chemical and biological protection (including ecology).
In the course of studying the disciplines, future officers acquire the competencies to successfully perform their professional duties, and as a result, are able to:
- apply knowledge of the organizational and staffing structure of engineering units, their capabilities and combat use to successfully perform engineering support tasks for general combat, combat (special) operations in specific conditions, taking into account the experience of the Joint Forces Operation (ATO);
- develop and execute combat (graphic and textual) documents on the organization of management of an engineering troops unit in various types of general combat, have a methodology for the content and procedure of the work of the commander of an engineering troops unit;
- conduct engineering and tactical calculations on the need for forces and means to perform engineering support tasks and organize their implementation;
- apply new ways and forms of performing engineering support tasks for a combined arms battle;
- to organize the performance of works on the construction and overcoming of mine and non-explosive barriers, demining of terrain and objects, using knowledge of explosives and commercially produced explosives to organize tasks and measures of radiation, chemical, biological protection in various conditions. The structure of the department includes, as the main staff, research and teaching staff and subordinate units, namely: a training complex (to provide classes in the disciplines of radiation, chemical, and biological defense troops); a training complex (to provide classes in the disciplines of engineering support); two classrooms that provide quality content of educational activities.
