It was headed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense of Australia, Richard Marles. Other members of the meeting were Ambassador of Australia to Ukraine Paul Lehmann, Commander of the Australian Army Lieutenant General Simon Stewart and others.
The foreign guests were welcomed by Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, Acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine, and Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk, Commandant of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Army Academy.
During the visit, the guests paid tribute to the memory of the Academy's graduates who heroically gave their lives in the fight against the russian invaders.
Subsequently, the parties discussed the development of further partnerships that will contribute to the defense capabilities of both countries.
"This historic event symbolizes a new stage in cooperation between Ukraine and Australia, opens a new page in the activities of our educational institution, and is especially important in the context of repelling russian military aggression," said Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk in his welcoming speech. - "I am grateful to the Government, military leadership and all the people of distant Australia for their unwavering support of Ukraine and assistance in the fight against the aggressor.
