History of the Military NCO College

The Military College of the National Army Academy was established at the end of 2007 in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 698/1199 dated 28.12.2007 “On Additional Measures for Training NCOs at the Junior Specialist Degree” to optimize the network of higher military educational institutions and to organize training of military specialists in automotive specialties with the Junior Specialist Degree for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2008, the Military College of Non-Commissioned Officers held its first enrollment in the specialty of “Repair and Maintenance of Vehicles and Engines.” In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of May 13, 2009, No. 467 “On Measures to Further Optimize the Network of Higher Military Educational Institutions and Military Educational Units of Higher Educational Institutions”, the Lviv Army Institute named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi was reorganized on September 1, 2009, by removing it from the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” and transforming it into the Army Academy named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi (Lviv) with the establishment of the Military College of Sergeants Major.

Today, the Military College of Non-Commissioned Officers trains servicemen for the educational and professional degree of “professional junior bachelor” with a training period of 2 to 3 years and conducts mid-level NCO (sergeant major) refresher courses with a training period of 3 months.
