The scientific work at the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Military Leadership is one of the main activities of the academic staff and is carried out with the aim of implementing state standards of quality of training and theoretical and methodological substantiation of promising systems of methodological and moral and psychological support for the training and employment of troops.
The main focus of the department's research efforts is:
- conducting scientific research on moral and psychological support and psychology of military teams aimed at improving the combat capability of units and subunits of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, education and training of officers;
- participation in the training of highly qualified academic staff (adjuncts) and their certification;
- development and publication of monographs, textbooks, manuals, and software;
- organizing the work of the cadets' military scientific society;
- conducting rationalization work by the academic staff of the department aimed at improving the material and technical base, quality and rational use of training time during classes with cadets and students at the officer and non-commissioned officer training courses.
Effective interaction and cooperation with leading state institutions (enterprises) and higher education institutions contribute to the training of future officers:
- National Defense University of Ukraine named after Ivan Chernyakhovsky;
- Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv;
- Military Academy (Odesa);
- Kharkiv National Air Force University named after I. Kozhedub;
- Lviv State University of Life Safety; National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine;
- National University of Civil Defense of Ukraine;
- Institute of Naval Forces of the National University “Odesa Maritime Academy”;
- Scientific Center for Humanitarian Problems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The scientific and pedagogical staff of the department are regular participants in international and national conferences, seminars, round tables on the practical implementation of theoretical developments in military psychology, pedagogy, cultural studies, history of Ukraine and its troops in the educational activities of the educational institution.
The priority direction of the scientific activity of the department is the organization of scientific work of cadets for the purpose of qualitative preparation and writing of certification papers, their implementation in the practical activities of structures for moral and psychological support, military cultural institutions through the potential of the club of the military scientific society of students and cadets (students), whose main tasks are:
- promoting deep mastery of academic disciplines, consideration of the military and historical past of Ukraine and the stages of military construction, modern development of military equipment and weapons;
- raising the level of professional training of cadets;
- mastering by future officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the methodology of conducting independent military research;
- studying the experience of foreign armies in organizing combat training, organizing psychological support for the training and use of troops;
- participation in the general academic competition, inter-university competitions (forums) of scientific papers, all-Ukrainian competitions of student research papers held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, etc.
The results of scientific research are made public through a permanent departmental scientific and practical seminar, national and foreign conferences, and scientific articles in professional publications.
