History of the Department of Tactics of the Support Forces

The Department of Tactics of the Support Forces was established in 2022, it is the successor of the Department of Tactics of the Engineer Forces, which dates back to 2012 on the basis of the Directive of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine of 23.04.12 №D-322/1/5DSK, later the Department of Tactics of Combat (Operational) Support Units. It is organizationally part of the Faculty of Support Forces. The department is a graduate department and is intended for training cadets in the specialty “Management of actions of engineering units of troops and forces”. 

The first head of the department in 2012-2013 was Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Colonel O.M. Denysenko. From 2013 to 2019, the department was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher Colonel Yurii Ftemov. Since 2020, the department has been headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Colonel D.A. Okipnyak.

Modern information technologies and teaching methods are actively used by the teachers, Lieutenant Colonel A. Kuzmichev and Armed Forces officer O. Neshchadin, who are participants of the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. The acquired theoretical knowledge is consolidated by the cadets of the Academy during practical classes under the guidance of experienced teachers, namely Lieutenant Colonels K.M. Khomyak, G.A. Matveev, Lieutenant Colonel V.M. Malyuk All graduates of the department are directly involved in the implementation of engineering support tasks and in the conduct of the Joint Forces Operation. The vast majority of them have been awarded departmental and state awards. Among them: By the Decree of the President of Ukraine, the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, III degree, was awarded to the 2013 graduates for personal courage and high professionalism in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the Military Oath. captain FURMAN Oleksandr Viktorovych, senior lieutenant CHORPITA Oleksandr Oleksandrovych, captain YATSYSHYN Petro Stepanovych, 2014 graduate, senior lieutenant CHERNYkh Vitalii Vitaliiovych, and many others. Today, the department has accumulated a great scientific and practical potential, which, in combination with the available educational and material base, fully meets the training needs of students. Every year, members of the Estonian Armed Forces undergo advanced training in mine clearance, learning how to search for and neutralize (destroy) explosive devices.
