The methodological work at the department is planned and aimed at improving the quality of cadets' training, the effectiveness of all types of training, improving the pedagogical skills of academic staff, and implementing modern teaching technologies. Work is constantly underway to improve the curricula, programs and work programs of academic disciplines in accordance with the requirements of customers and the needs of the troops. An important area of methodological activity at the department is the development and publication of textbooks, manuals and teaching materials used by academic staff for conducting classes and by cadets during independent training.

The methodological work of the department is based on scientific research and advanced pedagogical experience, aimed at improving the professional competence of teachers and increasing the efficiency of the educational process. Methodological work at the department is organized and conducted according to a special plan of methodological work developed for the academic year. It is updated and supplemented on a monthly basis, taking into account the dynamic situations of today and the urgency of military service tasks. The main forms of methodical work of the department are: - conducting educational and methodological meetings, scientific and methodological conferences and seminars; - meetings of the department to consider issues of methods of teaching and upbringing of cadets; - conducting instructional and methodological, demonstration, open and trial classes; - development and improvement of teaching materials, electronic textbooks, a fund of test programs, improvement of material and technical support of the educational process; - conducting pedagogical experiments and implementation of their results in the educational process. In January 2021, the Department of Land Artillery organized a refresher course for academic staff on the work of the unit commander (TLP) and the military decision-making process (MDMP). The Course is conducted by the instructors of the Canadian Armed Forces, Captain Alex PATRIE, Captain Roderick TURNER, Captain Trevor SMITH and Sergeant Alex HUD. The purpose of the Course is to improve the professional training of academic staff of both the Department and the National Academy in the management of units according to NATO standards, as the Academy actively implements the work of a unit commander according to NATO standards in the educational process of training cadets, students of leadership courses and training of artillery division headquarters Methodological work is an integral part of the educational process and one of the main activities of the Department. It is aimed at: - improving the methodology of training and education of cadets; - improving the efficiency and quality of organization and conduct of all types of training sessions; - improving the pedagogical skills of academic staff; - developing and publishing educational and methodological literature; - improving the material and technical support of the educational process; - studying, summarizing and disseminating best practices in the training and education of cadets; - introducing the experience of combat training of troops and local wars into the educational process. The formation of curricula and distribution of educational material of the department's disciplines fully and comprehensively take into account the requirements of modern conditions and prospects for the development of the Army of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The proportion of practical classes in the curriculum and syllabi has been increased, which has fully justified itself and improved the quality of knowledge and skills acquired by the cadets.
