The Department of Tactics is a basic structural subdivision of the Faculty of Combat Use of Forces, which conducts educational and methodological activities in the specialty “Management of Army Units”, which includes the specializations “Management of Mechanized Forces Units” and “Management of Tank Forces Units” and carries out educational, scientific, research and scientific and technical activities in the field of “Military Management”. The activities of the department do not depend on the interference of political parties, public and religious organizations. The Department prohibits the establishment and operation of any political party branches.

Educational, methodological, educational work, scientific and technical activities are organized and carried out in accordance with the current legislation of Ukraine, regulations of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The mission of the Department of Tactics is to train highly qualified officers in the specialty “Command and Control of Land Forces”, in the specializations “Command and Control of Mechanized Forces”, “Command and Control of Tank Forces” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To this end, the tasks are:
- coordination of the activities of all departments that provide special professional training for cadets (students) in the field of study “Military Management”, specialty “Management of the actions of the Army units”;
- implementation of educational and professional programs, curricula for training, retraining and advanced training of specialists;
- development of a unified concept for the implementation of the content of education in the disciplines taught by the department;
- organization and implementation of the educational process in group and individual forms of work at the proper scientific and methodological levels;
- development and approval of means of diagnosing the level of knowledge, common evaluation criteria;
- Implementation of all types of knowledge quality control through examination sessions, state (comprehensive) exams, defense of term papers and qualification works;
- preparation and systematic updating of methodological support for educational activities in the disciplines taught by the department; education of future officer-leaders;
- organization of implementation and control over the decisions taken on the issues of ensuring the educational process;
- implementation within the competence of the department of the principles of the Bologna process, elements of the credit-modular system of organization of the educational process;
- supervising the scientific work of cadets (students), organizing the work of scientific clubs, holding competitions, contests in the field of activity of the department;
- organization of pedagogical control of scientific and pedagogical activities through conducting and further discussion at the meetings of the department of open classes, as well as control and mutual visits;
- collecting and summarizing the best practices gained by the Department's teachers during classes and extracurricular activities;
- participation in the training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel through adjunct positions (by obtaining a scientific degree);
- supervising the preparation of dissertations, reviewing, discussing the presented research at department meetings and interdepartmental seminars;
- preparation of reviews of dissertations and abstracts of dissertations in the field of the department's profile that have been submitted to the Academy;
- organization of interaction with other educational institutions, holding joint meetings of the departments, round tables, preparation and publication of scientific and educational literature;
- putting forward proposals for awarding the academic titles of professor and associate professor to the academic staff of the departments;
- organization and conduct of classes in the system of professional training; development of relevant documents on scientific and methodological support of educational and scientific activities of higher military educational institutions;
- preparation and publication of educational, scientific, methodological literature on the problems of combat use of troops (units, subdivisions);
- development of proposals for occupational programs, qualification and educational characteristics, complex qualification tasks in the specialization;
- preparation of a justification for improving the variable part of the educational and professional program;
- organization of military internship and its defense in accordance with the established procedure;
- organization of systematic study of graduates' work, level of their theoretical and practical training;
- involvement of leading scientists, research and teaching staff with experience in the military, including during combat missions, to control the knowledge of cadets, participation in the work of the State Examination Commission;
- coordinating and ensuring the preparation of qualification papers; ensuring the preparation and conduct of state (comprehensive) examinations.
The tasks of the department are fulfilled through the integration of training and practice, the full and effective application of all elements of the educational process, taking into account the capabilities of modern information technologies.
When performing the tasks assigned to the department, its leadership reports to the Chief of the Faculty of Combat Use of Forces and the Chief of the National Academy, deputies in the areas of work.
