The Department of Musical Art, formerly the Military Conducting Department, was established in 1993 according to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 19.08.1992 No. 490 and the Order of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine of 25.08.1992 No. 133 “On the Deployment of the Military Education System in Ukraine”.
Colonel Horbal Y.M., Colonel Zaiets Y.V., Associate Professor Pindyk V.L. took an active part in the creation of the department.
The following teachers and concertmasters began training future military conductors at the newly created department: Candidate of Arts, Associate Professor Chernova I.V, Candidate of Arts, Associate Professor Hyshka I.S., Makarova O.S., Levytska S.V., Provozin V.V., Darnytska O.Y., Romanova L.H. Dorosh M.P. and Miroshnychenko R.M. assisted in organizing the educational process of the department.
Every year, the staff of the department was replenished with highly qualified specialists in conducting, specialized wind instruments, instrumentation, instrumentation, piano, reading and analyzing orchestral scores, namely: professors: Hrytsak O.T., Herenovych O.O., Nosov V.M.; associate professors: Drazhnytsia L.L., Plaksiuk N.H., Balukh Y.Y., Vavryk R.V.; Honored Artist of the USSR A.O. Currently, the Department of Musical Art is the only one in Ukraine that trains military conductors for the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine. The department has created a modern system of training military conductors based on the historical traditions of Ukrainian military music, the best examples of national and world music culture, the preservation of which determines the importance of further strategic and educational concept at the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi Army Academy.
Graduates of the department perform responsible and complex tasks that require high professional competence, namely: - providing state-level ceremonial events with the participation of the President of Ukraine, heads of foreign delegations and other high-ranking officials; - raising the morale of military personnel and enriching the power of the Ukrainian army through the means of musical art.
