Structurally the department is a part of the faculty that trains specialists for military engineering forces and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense. The primary task of the department is training specialists for engineering forces concerning fortification and camouflage, building of military bridges, roads and organization of crossings, conducting diving works with cadets in specialities “Control of operations of military engineering units and forces” and “Weapons and equipment of military engineering forces”. Among the scientific pedagogical staff of the department there are officers with academic degrees: candidate of pedagogical science, associate professor Diakov Sviatoslav Ivanovych; candidate of technical science, Lieutenant Colonel Kolos Oleksandr Leonidovych. Future officers of engineering forces study the following disciplines: “Fortification and camouflage”, “Crossings and diving training”, “Military bridges and roads”. At the department a great attention is paid to organization of scientific and technical activity among pedagogical staff and among cadets as well, therefore a circle of military scientific association has been founded at the department. One of its goals is forming suggestions as for development and use of engineering equipment, searching new forms and ways of fulfilling tasks of engineer support of combat (stabilizing) actions of troops including anti-terroristic operations (ATO) and international peacekeeping operations. The aim of the department is training future officers of engineering forces for professional activity in organizing task accomplishment of engineer support as for: — fortification equipping of positions and regions of troops location; — camouflage of troops (forces) and objects; — arrangement and holding of crossings; — preparing and holding ways of troops movement. On the base of the department of engineering special disciplines: central diving training sessions are held annually with commanders of diving units, diving instructors and divers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for awarding, confirming and raising the level of skills; candidates are trained to be included into national peacekeeping contingent in international peacekeeping operations; officers called up to military service by mobilization are trained for pontoon bridging, pontoon landing, bridge building and engineering fortification units; within the scope of international military cooperation the personnel of the department is regularly involved into conducting classes with the representatives of other countries: the USA, Germany, Republic of Belarus, Poland, Estonia etc.). Scientific and pedagogical staff of the department repeatedly carried out tasks in the ATO zone concerning fortification equipment of positions and regions of troops location.
